Vienna Secession Poster
The University of Texas at El Paso
2018 Poster Design
This assignment was to create a poster for a fictional exhibition of The Vienna Secession in El Paso. The movement began in 1897 in Austria. It was created by artists who wanted to break away from the conservatism of their country and introduce contemporary art in their city, Vienna, Austria. Here I recreated the poster Kunstschau Wien, 1908 by Berthold Löffer, however I changed the appearance of the woman to the Virgin Mary, who I believe has a powerful impact on many people here on the U.S.—Mexico border , thus linking the movement to the city of El Paso.
